What hailstones do to your roof:

When hail impacts your property the roof is the first to get hit. There are many factors that contribute during a hail storm and if the storm is just right your roof can get damaged. Hail impacting the roof hard enough can cause the fiberglass matting underneath the shingle to be broken which greatly reduces the life expectancy of your roof.

Hail damage is difficult to see from the ground which is why it’s important to have your property inspected by a knowledgeable professional immediately after a storm.

Our project managers are highly experienced in identifying hail damage on the entirety of the property. We offer same day inspections which will allow you to act quickly to prevent further damage.

4 factors that contribute to damage are

  • Hailstone density: the density of the hail plays a big role in how much damage occurs. The larger the stone, the more likely it will cause damage. Size isn’t the only factor though as small stones with high density and high winds will produce similar effects.
  • Wind speed: the speed of the wind during the storm will cause the stones to impact surfaces harder which will cause damage
  • Coverage: how much coverage a property has influences the amount of damage. If your property is open without the coverage of trees it’s more likely to sustain damage.
  • Roof age: Typically an older roof will sustain more damage as the roofing material is more brittle. That creates more buoyancy in the roof resulting in a deeper impact from the hail.
